Isotretinoin is primarily used as a treatment for severe acne. The most common adverse effects are a transient worsening of acne (lasting 2–3 weeks), dry lips (cheilitis), dry and fragile skin, and an increased susceptibility to sunburn. Uncommon and rare side effects include muscle aches and pains (myalgias), and headaches. Isotretinoin is known to cause birth defects due to in utero exposure because of the molecule's close resemblance to retinoic acid, a natural vitamin A derivative which controls normal embryonic development.

Wash your hands before and after applying the medicine. Use it regularly, even if you don’t see immediate results, as it can take a few weeks to notice improvement. Avoid excessive exposure to the sun and use sunscreen, as Clincitop Gel may make your skin more sensitive to sunlight.

The most common side effects of Clincitop Gel are dry skin, skin irritation, diarrhea, and gastrointestinal disturbances. These are usually mild and go away as your skin adjusts to the treatment. To reduce irritation, use a gentle moisturizer or consult your doctor if the symptoms become bothersome. If you experience severe reactions, such as a rash, swelling, or difficulty breathing, stop using it and seek medical help immediately.
